What a Year !!!

Every year around the beginning of January I get to thinking " where was I last year? what have I accomplished since then? where will I be and what will i be doing next year at this time?"

This past year has been filled with milestones and huge achievements. Its hard to believe how much I have accomplished and learned in such a seemingly small amount of time.

Between starting up a business from scratch with my boyfriend of 8 years, hosting fashion shows, photo shoots, parties and events to graduating from the school of Architecture at Carleton University and purchasing our first home all led to truly taking the first steps to staring my adult life.

I'm Angie, head designer and owner of Demü Label. I will be providing a daily behind the scenes look at the crazy world of the fashion industry. Follow me as I take you through this roller coaster ride, that is my life!

Being a designer and owner of a clothing label definitely comes with the opportunity to be apart of a wonderfully exciting world. Hosting and attending countless shows and events, as well as having the honor of meeting some exceptionally fabulous people. The social aspect is without question the most delightful part of my job.

Although the glitz, glam and sparkle is enchantingly fun, it surely is not what fulfills me. I have heard countless times, "The fashion industry isn't as glamorous as it appears." In my opinion, this is completely untrue. As with any situation in life, it is what you make of it!

Let it be heard, the life of a fashion designer can without a doubt be very glamorous. Parties, club events, cocktails, celebrities and couture surely go hand in hand. However, if that's the only aspect of the fashion industry that makes your clock will probably be left alone, with your bottles of Dom Perignon, a few too many bedazzled Tshirts and on your hands and knees searching for your self-respect on the floor of last night's VIP booth!

One of the biggest lessons I have learned not only as a designer, but in life is : Do what you Love! In order to be successful in any industry you must truly be passionate about your career, find out what drives you and never forget it.

I genuinely feel most fulfilled when I see a wave of undeniably striking confidence come over a customer upon putting on something I have created. My mind immediately does an auto-rewind of the entire process we went through to finalize the specific garment and bring that incredible and priceless feeling to each and every person. It is the most amazingly satisfying and accomplished feeling I could ever have. This is what motivates me , this is what drives me.

I love what I do! I love it so much that I want to share it with the world. This blog will consist of my daily activities as designer and part owner of Demü Label, as well as tips and lessons I learn along the way.
